For their jubilee exhibition Why Do Shoes Rub and Other Questions, Contemporary Art Museum of Estonia (EKKM) organised the Complaints Choir of Tallinn. Oliver and I created the concept in 2005, and ”open-sourced” it in 2006 for anyone to use. The video documentation of the new complaints choir, composed and directed by Florian Wahl, can be seen in the exhibition, which also includes works by Alexei Gordin, Bogna Luiza Wiśniewska, Eric Andersen, Finnegan Shannon, Flo Kasearu, Herman Halliste, Mari Möldre & Margus Tammik, Marta Konovalov, Rait Lõhmus and Taavi Piibemann.

The Most Valuable Clock in the World
The Most Valuable Clock in the World is a large wind-up mechanical-electronic clock. Its wooden gears control six screens that present recorded moments in cycles of hours, minutes, and seconds. It displays and preserves moments considered valuable by the people of Oulu, Finland, in 2025. The value of the clock lies in personally meaningful moments contributed through an open call.
The clock’s minute hand is composed of 60 everyday moments contributed by Oulu residents. The second hand consists of fleeting moments captured by 106 local participants. The hour hand, formed from twelve one-hour videos, depicts species, habitats, and natural phenomena in the Oulu region whose continued existence in their present form is under threat. It was created in collaboration with researchers from the University of Oulu and the Arctic Centre in Rovaniemi, as well as other nature experts from Oulu.
The clock itself was built together with a dedicated group of eight local participants.
By displaying what people considered valuable, the work also serves as a time capsule for future generations, preserving a portrait of life in Oulu in 2025 and the moments its people chose to remember.
The work was made by Oliver Kochta-Kalleinen and I. It was curated by Alice Sharp (Invisible Dust, London) and created as part of Climate Clock, a programme of Oulu2026 European Capital of Culture. The production also received additional support through AVEK’s Mediarata programme for our production company, Firma.

Biased
BIASED is an interactive performance that divides the audience into two groups. At the entrance, each audience member chooses between Actor A and Actor B based only on their photographs. According to their choice, they are led to opposite sides of the stage and separated by a wall built from cardboard boxes. Each box bears the name of a different cognitive bias.
Throughout the performance, the performers dismantle the wall, brick by brick, introducing the cognitive biases written on each box. The audience takes part in psychological tests designed to reveal these mental shortcuts, which contribute to prejudice, misinterpretation and other errors in human thinking. As more of the wall disappears, the two groups gradually begin to see one another. By the end of the first part of the performance, the wall has been transformed into the Experimental Ruin Café on stage. The cardboard boxes that once divided the audience now serve as café tables. Around them, the two groups take part in game-like experiments exploring cognitive biases in their own lives. See a 7-minute documentation of the performance here.
The performance was created by Oliver Kochta-Kalleinen, Tellervo Kalleinen, director and dramaturg Anna-Mari Karvonen, actor Matija Kezele and musician Fred Nevché. Part of the work group were the actors Yasmin Ahsanullah and Niina Sillanpää. The light and space design was made by Milla Martikainen. It was produced as part of Espoo Theatre & ’s contribution to the Centriphery project, funded by Creative Europe. BIASED premiered at Espoo Theatre & in 2022 and later toured Finnish schools.

THE MOST VALUABLE CLOCK IN THE WORLD – UNVEILING AND TOUR
The time has come!
The Most Valuable Clock in the World will be unveiled this May at the very place where it has been carefully built over the past year and a half. Join us on May 9 at 1:00 PM at the Old Orava School (Simunantie 15, Kello, Oulu, Finland).
In early June, the clock will go on tour. The first stop is the Kierikki Center—come and meet us on June 13 from 12:00 to 2:00 PM. On the same day, the entire Climate Clock public art trail will open across Oulu, so there is a chance to also meet the other Climate Clock artists: Ranti Bam, Superflex, Takahiro Iwasaki, Antti Laitinen, Rana Begum and Gabriel Kuri,
On June 23 at 5:00 PM, the clock will open at the Valve Cultural Center. After that, the piece will be on display at the Ylikiiminki Community House starting July 27, at Syketalo in Kiiminki from October 1, and at the Oulunsalo Library from November 1.
In Tornio, the clock will be exhibited at the Aine Art Museum beginning December 10. At the Hämeenlinna Art Museum, the clock will become part of our solo exhibition, opening on June 18, 2027.

Takay-Sin’s Silmänkorkeudelta -album is now out!
Minna Records have published Takay-Sin’s debut EP 24 October, 2025.
The EP is a tightly woven collection of six songs where Finnish and English lyrics intertwine with charged melodies, carrying the listener from the shadows of giants into a burning grandstand—accompanied by strings, piano, flugelhorn, and harp.
Takay-Sin is the new musical channel and alter ego of Tellervo Kalleinen.

The opening track, Lämmön etsijä (“Seeker of Warmth”), refuses to be cold despite the giants who cast freezing shadows and trade the Earth as a commodity. Eeva Koivusalo’s excellent bass lines, Antti Aimo-Koivisto’s guitars, Saara Viika’s cello, and Julius Valve’s rhythms bring warmth to a world the lyrics portray as indifferent and chilling.
The subtle experience of outsiderness takes shape in Ystävyyden sinfonia (“Symphony of Friendship”), where a wader dares to wade deeper into the sea, following a new companion. Mika Myllari’s distant-sounding flugelhorn, Salla Hakkola’s playful harp, and Saara Viika’s painterly cello conjure the song’s magical soundscape.
In Eikä mikään enää palaa ennalleen (“And Nothing Will Ever Be the Same Again”), the song begins with the reluctant rising from bed and quickly grows into a dense moment of irreversible change. The one accustomed to watching from the sidelines awakens to find the grandstand on fire. After Milla Viljamaa’s impassioned piano solo, there’s no turning back.
Kotiinkutsu (“Home Call”) coaxes a restless mind—gone on a journey around the world—to return home for the evening. Chosen as the EP’s lead single, the song’s inviting soundscape, shaped by Mikko Ijäs’s drums along with layered vocal and string harmonies, makes the persuasion hard to resist.
The EP also includes two English-language compositions. Heyday portrays the willingness to go to great lengths for a fleeting sense of fulfillment. The string duet by Sirja Puurtinen and Saara Viika, together with Milla Viljamaa’s grand piano, builds a shimmering sense of anticipation.
I Will Take It From Here is a beautiful and aching song about intergenerational wounds and love. Cello, violin, and piano carry words addressed to a late father with a tone that is sorrowful yet resolute.
Takay-Sin’s self-written songs are lyric-driven compositions that still give generous space to instrumental expression. The overall sound is acoustic and bare, revealing both vulnerability and precision. Kalleinen’s lyrics weave together existential depth with flashes of almost banal imagery. Gentle humor and grave seriousness walk hand in hand throughout the record, as Takay-Sin plays lovingly with the language itself.

About
Tellervo Kalleinen is a Helsinki-based artist and songwriter. Rooted in strong concepts, her participatory practice spans moving image, performance, and music, fostering unlikely encounters and creating temporary communities. Her work embraces absurdity as fertile ground for collaboration, play, and unexpected perspectives. She approaches art as a collective creative adventure, and her projects often begin with an open invitation to participate. Her solo performances create twisted spaces between performer and audience, such as Recycle You, in which she recycles audience members’ expired opinions. Alongside her artistic practice, Kalleinen writes and performs music. She is currently active with her solo project Takay-Sin.
Kalleinen is one half of the artist duo with Oliver Kochta-Kalleinen. Their collaboration began by organising The First Summit of Micronations as curators of the Amorph!03 performance festival in Helsinki in 2003 (produced by Artists’ Association MUU). Their Complaints Choir concept (2005-) has spread to nearly 200 cities worldwide. Alongside several moving image works, such as People in White (2011) and Archipelago Science Fiction (2011), they have worked with complex public art commissions. In 2022 they completed Keskustelupuisto / Common Ground – A Public Space Game, in which participants designed and realised a public park through a two-year, game-like collaborative process. In 2026 they unveiled The Most Valuable Clock in the World, a clock that shows precious moments drawn from people’s lives and the surrounding natural environment – the work was commissioned by Invisible Dust in collaboration with Oulu2026, the European Capital of Culture.
Together with Niina Lehtonen Braun and Mirka Raito she forms the performance trio JOKAklubi (since 2009), and she is a founding member of the YKON collective (2005). She is a former member of The Speech Karaoke Action Group.

Archipelago Science Fiction
Tellervo Kalleinen & Oliver Kochta-Kalleinen, 2011-12

The work shows four possible future scenarios for the Finnish archipelago. Using web questionnaires and face to face interviews we mapped islanders´worst and best case scenarios about the future of the archipelago. In 3 workshops at Utö, Houtskär and Korpo the islanders then produced cinematic ideas portraying bleak or optimistic visions of the archipelago in the year 2111. Four ideas were then realized with more than 100 locals acting in the films. The four scenarios are: paradise for an aging elite, lifestyle immigration, neo-capitalism , outdoor museum. Archipelago Scifi is a collaboration with Swedish film-maker Henrik Andersson.

Final Scenes of Disaster Movies
For Final Scenes for Disaster Movies (2023), me and Oliver invited residents of Helsinki to imagine final scenes of imaginary disaster movies. The only condition was that the scenes had to take place in Kansalaistori, a square in the heart of Helsinki.
Of the 105 submissions, we realised three. One hundred volunteers performed in the films.
The commissioning organisation, Helsinki Festival, premiered the films in the same square where they were shot, as a free opening event for an audience of 15,000. The musical score was composed and performed live by Cleaning Women. The project was curated by Marko Ahtisaari.
Collective Mindscape
Collective Mindscape brings together the mental landscapes of eight people who have experienced cancer. The viewer can spend time in the virtual world featuring the participants’ sanctuaries as well as more challenging landscapes reflecting their experiences of living with cancer.
The work is experienced by sitting in front of the screen and following the on-screen instructions. The viewer moves through the world using simple hand gestures and can trigger audio recordings in which the participants share their insights.
I made the work together with Oliver Kochta-Kalleinen. The mindscapes were created by 3D artists Vilma Ratinen and Katariina Kontturi, based on multiple interviews and feedback sessions with the participants. The work was commissioned for the Comprehensive Cancer Center in Helsinki and curated by Taru Elfving. It is permanently installed in the Potilassalonki (Patient Lounge) at Siltasairaala in Helsinki. The work was completed in 2024.
For This Dance, I Will Take the Lead
Together with around six participants, I host a collective dance event. As the audience gathers on the dance floor, the participants, one by one, invite everyone to dance to a song of their choice. Before the music begins, each participant shares a period in their life when they lost control. Now, they take the lead, and the audience is invited to follow their movements.
The project was first commissioned and produced by Mad House Helsinki (2019). It was later organised at Living Room, Yerevan (2025), and at the Art of Peace Conference by Austrian Forum for Peace (2026), both at the invitation of artasfoundation.

Minna Tarkka Lectures @ HAM, Helsinki, 3 December, 2024
M-Cult is pleased to launch the inaugural edition of the Minna Tarkka Lectures, a new annual initiative focused on discussing and debating the potential of art, media, and technology to participate in and shape current and future democratic societies. These yearly lectures and workshops will celebrate the legacy of M-Cult’s founder and long-time director, Minna Tarkka, honoring her groundbreaking work in Finland and internationally in the fields of media and art and their intersections with social, political, and technological developments over the past 30 years.
For the first edition, M-Cult has invited artists Tellervo Kalleinen & Oliver Kochta-Kalleinen, artist Trevor Paglen and artists Julia Nisperos and Wax Roldan from Green Papaya Art Projects to deliver lectures at the HAM Helsinki Art Museum. In addition to these public events, the speakers lead workshops where they will share their working methods and research processes with local artists and other practitioners over cross-disciplinary fields of media and participatory art, activism, and critical research. These workshops are hosted by M-Cult and organised in collaboration with Aalto University and the Museum of Impossible Forms.
M-Cult is developing the Minna Tarkka Lectures as an experimental public forum and learning initiative to showcase critical activities in the arts—facilitating debates on the artistic, social, and technological urgencies of our time. This initiative creates a platform to underscore the roles of art and media as active contributors to civil society amid severe challenges to democratic life. Through this programme, we invite you to join us in reflecting what kinds of media art and participatory practices are meaningful now and in the future.

Confessions of a Participatory Artist
In this confessional lecture, Tellervo Kalleinen and Oliver Kochta-Kalleinen ask why participatory art remains relevant today. An artist who involves people in the creative process needs a unique palette of tools, as many small decisions influence the dynamics with the participants. In their lecture, Tellervo and Oliver will shed light on their chosen approaches, openly acknowledging what they have learned through their mistakes as well.
Tellervo Kalleinen and Oliver Kochta-Kalleinen work across many mediums from cinema to performance and interactive art forms. They share a deep interest in questions of participation, dialogue and storytelling.

Artist Collective Practices in the Philippines
In their lecture “Artist Collective Practices in the Philippines,” Julia Nisperos and Wax Roldan explore the history of Green Papaya Art Projects from the perspective of engaged observers. They examine Green Papaya’s community-driven practices and its influence on the broader art scene in the Philippines. Nisperos and Roldan will share insights from their experiences within collectives, connecting past and present to reflect on how these observations shape their approaches to collective work.
Green Papaya Art Projects (GPAP) is an independent, artist-run space in Metro Manila, Philippines, founded in 2000. It has continued its activities despite the fire that destroyed its physical location, along with artworks and historical documentation of the initiative.

This talk explores the history of covert military, intelligence, and technology programs that have laid the foundation for our increasingly surreal present.
Trevor Paglen is an artist whose work spans image-making, sculpture, investigative journalism, writing, engineering, and numerous other disciplines.
THE THEORY SHOW BY JOKAklubi @ WESTWERK, HAMBURG, 12 OCTOBER 2024
JOKAklubi – a group of artists Tellervo Kalleinen (Helsinki), Niina Lehtonen Braun (Berlin) and Mirka Raito (Hamburg) brings The Theory Show to the stage of Westwerk, Hamburg, on 12th October 2024.
JOKAklubi has 15 years of history organising playful club events, which engage professional artists. For ”The Theory Show” they have invited seven artists and artist groups from Hamburg and Berlin to make a prompt performance around one theory of their choice. The participants have free hands to approach and interpret this invitation creatively.
The countdown starts by introducing the theorists one by one in JOKAklubi’s website and social media, starting one week before the event. A Finnish underground star Pasi Mäkelä will work as a studio musician for the show, and Dj Leslie gets the party going after the performance.

JOKAklubi have previously performed The Theory Show in WestGermany venue and HilbertRaum project space in Berlin and in ASC gallery in London. JOKAklubi has performed in Hamburg in 2009 (Off Art Talent Show, Subvision Festival) and in 2016 (Time Machine Show, Westwerk). The former group of the trio “Voukkoset” had a legendary concert at the Pudel Club 1999 and as part of the Artgenda Festival in 2002.

Tellervo Kalleinen and Oliver Kochta-Kalleinen invite people living in Oulu to co-create The Most Valuable Clock in the World. The clock combines at least 120 valuable personal moments from residents with 12 precious moments in nature, advised by scientists.
The clock will be unveiled in 2026 and will tour the region, serving as a totally unique reflection on our precious day-to-day moments at different times of the day and during the yearly cycle.
The final “electromechanical-digital hybrid marvel” clock will be created during 2024-25 with local participants, volunteers, and some of the STEAM schools in Oulu.
If you live in the region, please join us in this extraordinary project and leave your mark in time! Whether you want to share your moments, engage in thought-provoking dinner conversations, or even help build the clock itself, there’s a way for everyone to contribute.

HOW TO TAKE PART
There are different ways to participate. Please fill this online form and tell us how you would like to take part:
1. Donate a Minute of Your Day: Would you be willing to donate a minute of your life to the clock? The minute hand will showcase moments that locals in Oulu feel are valuable in their daily lives. Describe a significant moment for you that recurs daily or weekly. Based on your descriptions, we will select 60 one-minute moments to be filmed throughout 2025. What each person considers valuable is personal and subjective, so the clock will feature a wonderful wide variety of moments!
2. Donate a Second: The second hand will display brief glimpses of valuable special moments, filmed by Oulu residents, that elevate everyday life. Write here if you would like to participate with a one-second video – we will contact you!
3. An Hour in Oulu’s Nature: The hour hand will display 12 precious moments from the natural cycle of Oulu – a one hour-long moment for each month of the year. The chosen moments will highlight aspects of nature that may, in the future, no longer be taken for granted due to climate change. What moment would you suggest we should include?
4. Dinner for Twelve: If you would like to reflect on valuable moments together with others, you are welcome to join inspiring discussions led by Tellervo & Oliver over a delightful dinner. During the fall of 2024, we will host five Dinner for Twelve in which the servings highlight the northern ingredients and knowhow according to the Arctic Food Lab programme. Some of the moments documented for the clock will be selected based on these dinner conversations. The dinners are free, but each event is limited to the first 12 registrants. Choose the most convenient time and place for you from the options below.
5. Join the Clock Builders: We are looking for a small, enthusiastic volunteer team to participate in the design and construction of this large mechanical-electronic clock. We will contact anyone interested to join the clock building team with further information.

Taiteilijat Tellervo Kalleinen ja Oliver Kochta-Kalleinen kutsuvat oululaiset tekemään kanssaan Maailman arvokkaimman kellon. Sen arvo perustuu paikallisten lahjoittamiin arvokkaisiin hetkiin, joita parimetrinen elektro-mekaaninen kello tulee näyttämään tunnin, minuutin ja sekunnin sykleissä.
Kello toteutetaan yhteistyössä vapaaehtoisten oululaisten, luontoasiantuntijoiden ja kolmen paikallisen STEAM-koulun kanssa. Kellon toteutukseen voi ilmoittautua verkkolomakkeen kautta.
Minuuttiviisariin pyydetään lahjoituksena paikallisten henkilökohtaisesti tärkeitä, arjessa toistuvia hetkiä. Mukaan etsitään laajaa näkökulmien kirjoa siitä, mitä oululaiset kokevat arjessaan arvokkaana. Sekuntiviisari koostuu asukkaiden itse videoimista ainutkertaisten hetkien välähdyksistä. Tuntiviisarissa näkökulma vaihtuu ihmisestä muihin lajeihin, sisältäen luonnossa ilmeneviä hetkiä, jotka ilmastonmuutoksen vuoksi eivät tulevaisuudessa ole itsestäänselvyyksiä. Näitä hetkiä valitaan yksi jokaiselle kuukaudelle. Kaikkiin viisareihin valitut hetket dokumentoidaan vuoden 2025 aikana.
Syksyn 2024 aikana järjestetään viisi Illallinen kahdelletoista -tilaisuutta. Taiteilijat vetävät keskustelua, joiden perusteella kelloon päätyy osa siihen dokumentoitavista arvokkaista hetkistä. Työ huipentuu kesäkuussa 2026, jolloin Maailman arvokkain kello paljastetaan yleisölle. Kello lähtee kiertämään yleisön nähtäväksi Haukiputaalle, Kiiminkiin, Oulunsaloon, Yli-Iihin ja Ylikiiminkiin, ja lopulta lahjoitetaan myöhemmin kerrottavalle paikalliselle taholle.Taiteilijaparilla on 20 vuoden kokemus osallistavan nykytaiteen parissa. Heidät tunnetaan monimuotoisista teoksistaan, kuten Kiasmassa esillä olevasta Valituskuorosta ja vuoden 2023 Helsingin juhlaviikot avanneesta Katastrofielokuvien loppukohtauksia -elokuvateoksesta. Heidän taidettaan on ollut esillä ympäri maailmaa, kuten Tokion Mori Art Museumissa. Vuonna 2022 heiltä ilmestyi kirja Keskustelupuisto – Peli yhteisestä maaperästä. Heille on myönnetty Ars Fennica- ja AVEK Media Art Award -palkinnot.
Climate Clock
Maailman arvokkain kello on osa kansainvälistä Climate Clock –taidekokonaisuutta, jonka kuraattorina toimii Alice Sharp ja tuottajana Claudia Woolgar yhteistyössä Oulu2026-tiimin kanssa. Climate Clock on yksi Oulun Euroopan kulttuuripääkaupunkivuoden 2026 merkittävimmistä tuotannoista, jossa Kalleisen ja Kochta-Kalleisen yhteisöllisen teoksen lisäksi kuusi kansainvälisesti tunnettua taiteilijaa luo pysyviä taideteoksia eri puolille Oulua. Pysyvät teokset muodostavat julkisen taiteen reitin, joka käsittelee ajan luonnetta ja ilmastonmuutoksen vaikutuksia. Pysyvien teosten sijainnit ja taiteilijat julkistetaan kevään 2025 aikana. Isobritannialainen Alice Sharp Invisible Dust -organisaatiosta on työskennellyt taiteilijoiden ja tutkijoiden kanssa vuodesta 2009. Hän on kansainvälinen neuvonantaja sekä esiintyjä taiteen ja ilmastonmuutoksen alalla, mukaan lukien puheenvuorot Columbian yliopistossa New Yorkissa vuonna 2023, Davosissa vuonna 2020 ja YK:n kehitysohjelmassa vuonna 2019.

A space filled with people, drinks, food, music… and then what? The event looks like a party from the outside, but there are a lot of parallel games going on. YKON hosts Tellervo Kalleinen, Sauli Anetjärvi, Christina Kral and Milan Braun welcome the guests and give them individual game tasks. This evening shows how simple, low-tech game mechanics can radically alter how people relate to each other. The ca. three hour event welcomes suspension, deconstruction and reconfiguration with social interactions.

Oodi Y:lle / Ode to Y
On its 35th anniversary, the Y-Foundation commissioned us to create a public artwork involving its residents. The foundation is Finland’s largest nationwide non-profit landlord and an internationally recognised expert on ending homelessness.
Ode to Y consists of five mosaic-covered tables and an interactive mobile app. Together, the tables contain approximately 17,400 mosaic tiles, which is the same number as the Y-Foundation’s rental apartments in 2020, when we began developing the project.
Oliver Kochta-Kalleinen and I set up a mobile studio in the participating housing communities and invited residents to contribute content to the mosaic tiles. Through the mobile app, visitors can explore artworks, sounds, memories and stories connected to the different tables.
The tables are located in the courtyards of Taipaletalo (Porvoo), Rukkilan asumisyhteisö (Helsinki), Lyyrapyrstö 2 (Tampere) and Puunhaltijankuja (Vantaa).
The project was funded by the Y-Foundation. It was a co-production of the Y-Foundation and Firma Oy / Studio Kalleinen, and was made possible by AVEK’s Mediarata support for Firma Oy.
ODE TO Y – NEW PUBLIC ART WORK GATHERS PEOPLE AROUND THE TABLE! Helsinki, Tampere, Porvoo and Vantaa, JUNE 2024
On its 35th anniversary, Y-Säätiö Foundation commissioned us to create a public artwork involving its residents. The work, which has been in progress since 2020, will be celebrated in June 2024!
Y-Säätiö Foundation is the largest nationwide non-profit landlord in Finland and an international expert in fighting homelessness. Y-Säätiö promotes social justice by offering affordable rental apartments.
Ode to Y consists of five mosaic-covered tables – there are two of each of them – as well as an interactive mobile application. The tables were donated to two Y homes (Taipaletalo and Rukkila housing community) and three M2 homes. The tables contain a total of approximately 17,400 mosaic pieces. The figure corresponds to the number of Y-Säätiö rental apartments in 2020, when we started planning the work.
Anyone can download the free mobile app that is part of the work. It allows you to dig deeper into the mosaic: during 2023 we set up a mobile studio in the properties included in the project, and invited residents to add content to the mosaic tiles. By clicking the digital mosaic tiles of the Art Table, you’ll find art made by the residents. To the Table Instrumentwe recorded sounds produced by the residents. The mosaic of the Game Table archives residents’ memories from playing games around a table. The Common Table gathers residents’ insights and learnings about coexistence in an apartment building. The Ode to Y table, on the other hand, contains the history of the Y Foundation as told by its employees. The organization’s journey from an idea born at the kitchen table to a globally significant homelessness activist greatly inspired us.
When Juha Kaakinen first contacted us, he emphasized the values of the foundation, especially community spirit. So many communal and meaningful moments are experienced right around the table! Our work invites people to the table, but also creates connections through the stories, pictures, memories and poems hidden in the digital mosaic.

EXHIBITION @ HILBERTRAUM, BERLIN, 5-14 APRIL, 2024
In the exhibition, Tellervo and Oliver show three works of participatory art. Collective Mindscape (2024) is a digital 3D world constructed of the inner mindscapes of eight people who have experienced cancer. The viewer can move freely in the open world, through simple hand movements. Collective Mindscape is a commissioned work for the Cancer Day Care Center in Helsinki. In Hilbertraum the work is shown for the first time outside the hospital.
For the Final Scenes for Disaster Movies (2023), the duo invited residents of Helsinki to imagine a final scene for an imaginary disaster movie. The scene had to take place at Kansalaistori, a square located in the heart of Helsinki. From 105 submissions, 3 scenes were realised, with over a hundred volunteers acting in the film scenes, most of whom portrayed adult zombies.
People in White (2011) explores the relationship between doctor and patient in mental health care – strictly from a patient’s point of view. In the film, 9 former clients of mental health institutions return to their memories through storytelling and re-enactments.
EVENT: CONVERSATION PARK

Conversation Park is a unique artistic experiment of transforming an abandoned plot of land into a public park in the Finnish town of Rauma. In 2019 thirty residents between the ages of 6 and 89 became players in a two-year-long “Public Space Game”. Their mission was to unify their 30 individual park visions into one urban park. The playful process, designed and moderated by Tellervo and Oliver, progressed through 6 phases. Conversation Park was made possible by the Lönnström Art Museum. In the event at Hilbertraum, Tellervo and Oliver will present the Conversation Park -project, and the book they wrote about it. The duo has invited renowned artists Susanne Bosch and Philip Horst to provide additional commentary and insights with respect to their expertise on participatory art and participatory urban planning.

Salo Art Museum in Salo, Finland, is organizing an event around our work 101 For All. Three locals, farmer Esa Ranniko, veterinarian Jerina Wallius and business coach Juho Nenose, each have 20 minutes to present the work from their own perspective without interruption. They are free to choose whatever they want from the sea of 30 topics and 1,900 video clips. The event is in Finnish and it is moderated by Tellervo. Welcome 7pm!
FINAL SCENES OF DISASTER MOVIES, PREMIERE 17 AUGUST, 2023 @ KANSALAISTORI, HELSINKI
In spring 2023 me and Oliver invited people in Finland to send ideas how an imaginary disaster movie could end. The only condition was that the scene must take place at Kansalaistori -square in the middle of Helsinki. Out of 105 proposals we filmed three, with the help of almost 100 volunteer actors.
Welcome to the free premiere 17 August 8.30pm and 9.30pm at Kansalaistori. The huge led screen will be placed in front of Oodi library.
A fantastic band Cleaning Women has composed the music score to the film, and they will play it live during screening! In between of the two screenings Cleaning Women will play a mini concert.

Why do we think like we think? For All put it’s focus on the people hidden inside statistics – and to the stories behind their opinions.
The 100 people in the art piece forms a cross-section of the Finnish population in terms of gender, age, region, education, level of income, country of origin and mother tongue. 51 of them are classified as women, 13 isover 70 years old, one is from Asia and one holds a Ph.D.
In 2015 Tellervo Kalleinen and Oliver Kochta-Kalleinen visited them around Finland. The artists interviewed people about their personal relationship with 30 topics that tend to divide opinions. The interviewees tried to pinpoint experiences and influences that play a role on how their opinions were shaped.
The 1900 responses fed into an interactive video-installation. One spectator at a time can choose who to let speak, and on what topic.

YHTEINEN MIELENMAISEMA / COLLECTIVE MINDSCAPE @ SILTASAIRAALA -HOSPITAL, HELSINKI
ENG: Collective Mindscape is an interactive digital art work by Tellervo Kalleinen & Oliver Kochta-Kalleinen, commissioned by the cancer department of Siltasairaala -hospital, HUS.
Collective Mindscape combines the inner places of eight people into one open world. When walking through the world, one can discover the participants’ virtual sanctuaries, but also more challenging landscapes reflecting their experiences of living with cancer.
One can enter this digital world through the touchless screen, which reacts to the gestures of one’s hands. Later on the work will be optimised for tablets, so that clients of the cancer units can use the work while receiving treatment.
The user of the work can regulate the depth of involvement with the work. Walking through shimmering particles activates ’sound treasures’, where the participants talk about the landscapes and their experiences of living with cancer.
Collective Mindscape is part of the commission of seven art pieces, curated by Taru Elfving.

Yhteinen mielenmaisema -teos yhdistää syöpäsairaiden yksityiset mielenmaisemat yhdeksi digitaaliseksi 3D-maailmaksi. Teos koostuu kahdeksan eri-ikäisen syöpää sairastaneen osallistujan mielenmaisemista. Teos on toteutettu avoin maailma -peliteknologiaa käyttäen.
Maailmasta löytyy kultakin projektiin osallistuneelta kaksi erilaista paikkaa: turvapaikka, jonka ajattelu rauhoittaa, sekä se vaikeampi maasto, joka kuvastaa elämää syövän kanssa.
Yhteisessä mielenmaisemassa voi “kulkea” kosketusvapaan näytön kautta: sensori tunnistaa näytön edessä seisovan tai istuvan käden liikkeet, joilla voi ohjata liikkumistaan. Teoksen käyttäjän on myös mahdollista aktivoida maastosta löytyviä ”ääniaarteita”, joissa osallistujat puhuvat syöpäkokemuksistaan sekä suhteestaan mielenmaisemiinsa.
Teoksesta on Siltasairaalassa 21.3.2023 lähtien esillä demoversio, josta saadun palautteen avulla teoksen käyttäjäkokemusta kehitetään. Lopullinen versio teoksesta sijoitetaan sairaalan aulatilaan syksyllä 2023. Teos tullaan optimoimaan myös tableteille, jotta sitä voidaan käyttää syöpähoitojen aikana, hoitotuolissa vietettyjen tuntien aikana. Teoksen 3D-artisteina on toiminut Vilma Ratinen ja Katariina Kontturi.
