TRACKING DAR ES SALAAM, @ MÄNTTÄ ART FESTIVAL, FINLAND, JUNE-AUGUST 2018

We are honoured to have the Finland premiere of Tracking Dar Es Salaam at Mänttä Art Festival (17 June – 31 August, 2018).

This work by Oliver Kochta-Kalleinen and myself  is an interactive video installation, which shows parallel realities of Dar es Salaam through one ordinary weekday of 11 local inhabitants. The spectator have to make choices which of the video clips to watch, recorded in different parts of the city during that day – which of the people to follow and listen. The soundtrack consists of recorded interviews with the participants as well as music, which is individually composed for each of the 11 inhabitants.

This work was originally curated by ZK/U, funded by Habitat Unit / Technische Universität Berlin, AVEK and Taike, Finland and hosted by Nafasi Art Space in Dar es Salaam. The music for the work was composed by Nick Martin and Tellervo Kalleinen.
