Very happy about the upcoming premier of Tracking Dar es Salaam -piece at ZK/U.

For the work we followed 11 very different inhabitants in Dar es Salaam with GPS and camera for one entire day.  The volunteers were filmed from morning to evening by local camera men and later interviewed by us. We were interested how do they move around the city during a typical day, what are their routines, what are the challenges and how they would like the city develop.
The end result is an interactive video installation, which offers different perspectives to Dar es Salaam through the subjective views of the participants. The spectator can see the route of each of them and can choose any of the short clips recorded in different parts of the city. The outcome provides unique insight into the life of Dar, and shows the parallel realities within one city.
The work was curated by ZK/U, funded by Habitat Unit / Technische Universität Berlin and Taike, Finland and hosted by Nafasi Art Space, Dar es Salaam.
